Our country and our state are at a critical crossroads.

In this brief, historic 'window of opportunity,' we have the unprecedented chance to choose between two very different paths to our energy future.

One leads to increased dependence on Liquefied Natural Gas imported from insecure foreign sources which are already predicted to virtually run out in a decade or two - that is, within the lifetimes of our children. It will also lead to rebirth of a toxic, terrorist-vulnerable, perpetually polluting, WMD-spawning, fossil fuel-dependent nuclear industry which is already moribund from a terminal overdose of market forces.

The other leads to increasing reliance on efficient use of clean, sustainable energy from a mix of renewable sources like solar, wind, tidal and biomass.

One will continue to lead to rising prices, continuing greenhouse gas pollution, global climate change, environmental injustice, asthma epidemics, resource wars, and a legacy of perpetual energy insecurity.

The other can lead to cleaner air, climate stabilization, a world-wide economic boom of jobs and environmental justice, and a legacy of energy independence and peace.

Which one do we want to leave our kids?

Advocates of both paths are aligning their forces. The race to the energy future has begun.

Communities of Power is a video report on folks who have chosen the road to renewables and how they're working to make California a leader in the drive to create a clean energy future for us all.

It explains how new tools and strategies like Community Choice Laws, Local Power Aggregation, Solar H-Bonds and Energy Independence Ordinances are creating the political and financial leverage and large-scale industrial impacts that cities, counties and states need to begin to counter-balance and reverse short-term-profit-driven federal energy policies.

Exclusive original documentary footage combined with informative interviews make Communities of Power the most definitive report on this subject to date, featuring public officials, activists and ordinary citizens with the courage to speak out, act and make a difference.
