Greetings Friends of EON,

We hope the New Year finds you enthusiastically active, engaged in the issues of your choice, and determined to help make this a year of positive change for this country and for the planet.

In that spirit, we're beginning the year by posting a new harvest of our in-depth video interviews with activists and innovators whose work and ideas we believe you'll find both informative and empowering.

We are off January 27 for a video taping trip in Africa with the Natural Solutions Foundation. E-mail contact will be spotty for a while, but we'll do the best we can to stay in touch from the road. We will be attending a Codex Alimentarius working group meeting in Ghana where the EU and the US will duke it out over whether genetically modified foods will be required to be labeled or not.  The EU and Norway want labeling, the US does not.  The fate of world health will be mightily affected by this meeting's outcome that will determine global trade rules.

Many EON projects are bubbling in this yeasty new year. A few highlights are: our DVD work-in-progress on solar hot water; our efforts to bring out the latest best science and public policy information on the dangers of electro-magnetic pollution through publicizing the excellent Cindy Sage interview on the Bioinitiative Report; and the licensing of our documentary "A Little Light'll Do Ya: Defending Democracy in America" by GEO TV for broadcast in Pakistan during the lead up to their elections! Our book, The Enlightenment Imperative should be out by April.

Averting the Global Triple Crisis Video Series

These brief presentations are perfect for college and community discussions about the true roots of our global converging crises which then lead to the true solutions.  Heartful social change leaders show how the crises have been deliberately created and can just as deliberately be averted and replaced by a new way of living.
Presenters don't sugar-coat the problems, nor do they succumb to oft repeated false solutions based upon yet more consumption - of energy, water, and other resources  - such as "clean coal," biofuels, industrial organic food, hydrogen fuel cells, new 'inherently safe' nukes, etc. 
 If you are frustrated by the inadequate responses suggested so far to our dire systemic predicament, you'll be heartened to hear the honest list of real changes necessary to make the systemic shift.   Personal actions necessary include more community, reduced energy use, more efficiency, more creativity, less transport, more local food production, etc.  
IFG founder Jerry Mander points out that the converging crises cannot be dealt with one by one, they must be confronted together, “The solution to each is the solution to all.”

Planetary Deep Democracy

Our experience convinced us that a planet-wide grassroots drive for 'deep democracy' is on the rise and deserves documentation and support to build cross-border, trans-national solidarity. This is where EON's work can make an essential and unique contribution.

Feedback from those we serve by our articles, list-serve and videos tells us our work is useful. However, given the magnitude of the challenges we collectively face as a species, our current output is not enough. We want to do more to support these crucial movements by increasing the number of completed educational tools and widening their distribution.

We can do this by upgrading our on-line presence, employing more skilled staff, and developing intern and volunteer programs (please see below). It's time for EON to make the jump to a new, higher level of effectiveness on behalf of the planet and all its species. But we can't do it without your help in generating on-going operations funding.
