The shift to clean, renewable energy sources is a national, as well as planetary, survival issue. The writhing tentacles of the energy octopus reach out in many directions: greenhouse gases and climate change; militarism, resource wars and the 'war-on-terror;' transportation; food supplies; the economy...touching virtually every sector and factor of our individual lives and our society, from local to global.
Our conviction is that the Clean Energy Transition WILL happen, IS happening because it MUST happen if any semblance of our current civilization is to persist.
To be sure, there are scientific and technological hurtles to clear.† But the entrenched structural, economic and political resistances of vested interests and institutional inertia are by far the most intractable obstacles in the mix.
For this reason, an informed, engaged and active public is a key element in making sure the Transition doesn't degenerate into Collapse.
That's why we are partnering with organizations like WEM, IFG, Local Power, Sustainable Fairfax, Mainstreet Moms, the Post-Carbon Institute, NIRS, IEER, Transition West Marin, and NukeFree.org to create media tools for educating and organizing.
