Media Activism for System Change
Chapter 5
2000 - After the Enron debacle and the corporate-caused California 'energy crisis' we turned our attention to producing education and organizing tools supporting grassroots efforts to democratize and localize control of energy policy and mandate the development of clean, renewable, decentralized energy production. We produced four documentaries dealing with the Community Choice Energy strategies developed by Paul Fenn and Julia Peters of local.org.
Efforts to implement those strategies are now underway, despite strong PG&E corporate opposition in San Francisco, Marin County and other Bay Area communities.
We are continuing to work with and provide video services for clean energy advocate Barbara George, Founder-Director of Womens Energy Matters (WEM). EON produces video reporting vlog posts and DVDs on clean community energy campaigns in the region.
Clean Energy, Climate Change and Democratic Choice
MB testifies on energy efficiency at a California Public Utilities Commission hearing. Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is a monopoly energy utility in Northern California and is fighting hard to block grassroots and local government efforts to democritize energy policy in the direction of decentralized, clean energy generation and real energy efficiency measures.
